The Forest

Alas, The Cadre forced me and Ziq to spend the night in the forest.

Since 1 of us were supposed to have done so the night before and take turns.

We thought we could escape.

The second day of trekking in TMD made me more experienced, no doubt.

But it was very very tiring as well. By the time we finished, the day was going dark already.

Me and Ziq had a quick dinner, and rushed to the forest, where daylight was getting dimmer by the second.

By the time we reached, it was already dark. I tried to find a spot to set up my hammock but alas, there were no available trees.

I decided, to f*ck it and crash in with the cadets hahaha. Luckily I met an old BMT mate, who secured me a spot. I was already dead tired at this point.. 

Was about to unpack everything, and then...

'MEDIC!' someone shouted. 

I was furious.

'REALLY NOW...'

Me and an officer rushed in the dark to the direction of the shoutings.

We reached.

One of the cadet stepped on a mega huge caterpillar.

They burned it before I could see it.

Apparently, the fur got stuck on his feet?? It was like a set of splinters.

And it was super soft and hard to pull out, even with tweezers.

You're on your own with this one man. I said. Exasperated.

I couldnt do anything man.

This was out of my league.

We handed him the tweezer and he agreed to just try to take them out on his own.

Me and the officer trekked back to our area.

I walked past Buddy, who seemed to be enjoying his time.

When I reached my sleeping area, I let out a loud sigh of frustration.

'CAN THIS DAY GO ANY WORSE?!?!' I mentally screamed.

I was going crazy man.

By then it was pitch black.

I changed clothes, and laid on my groundsheet. Beneath me were uneven roots, but I didnt care.

I was under shelter and thats all that mattered.

Small thunder and lightning was heard but it didnt rain that night.

Thank God.

Me and Ziq chatted for a while, and then he went to sleep.

Me? I couldnt even sleep.

A giant grasshopper jumped in my direction as I shined my torchlight.

Then it jumped god knows where I couldnt even find it.

I quickly switched off the light, not daring to shine anymore.

Don't know what giant creature would jump at me next.

And then, moments later.

A spider, the size of MY PALM, crawled around our area. 

The cadets panicked and asked me to kill it.

I couldnt do it.

'What do you mean you can't???' they said.

I breathed in a deep breath, took my boots, and slammed on it.

I heard it scattering.

It disappeared. Into the night.

That night, I slept in fear.

Barely could catch a break. 

The next morning, we hurried out of the forest.

I couldnt wait to get out of that HELLHOLE and back to JV.

Definitely a night to remember.

Finally made plans.

But I can feel it.

The distance at this point.

It's like... an obvious gap.

Am I not trying hard enough?

But then again, I don't want to.

If it happens, it'll happen.
